Sagastad is proud to announce that the much anticipated next sea launch of the Myklebust ship will be held during April 2025.

The event will take place from April 23rd to April 30th. The program can be found below.

We are now releasing the first 50 early bird seats for the public. The next tickets will drop during January 2025.

Each early bird seat costs NOK 3000. The ticket includes a seat on the ship for a voyage that lasts approximately 2.5 hours. You also gain access to the event area, and rowing training with smaller vessels prior to the actual voyage. 

There will be plenty of photo opportunities and lots of additional activities taking place in and around Sagastad during the launch.

Available voyages for earlybirds

*Due to weather or other variables these times may change if needed to ensure safety. You should thus plan to stay in Nordfjordeid for the entire day when your voyage is scheduled.

Requirements for all participants

You must be an adult (18+) and of average health. You must be physically capable of performing essential duties, including rowing, and must be able to navigate the ship safely without the need for special accommodations. 

You must have a proficient level of English to effectively communicate and understand safety instructions.

By Norwegian law you will be required to complete a 1 hour security course. This course will be held prior to departure. During the course you will be instructed on the security routines onboard the Myklebust ship. 

The course will be held every day during the launch period at 12:00 local time.

You will also need to complete a rowing course with a smaller vessel on site. This is all included in the ticket. We will provide detailed information to you on the email you register with.

As a guest rower you will be provided with a member of the crew, whom will be responsible for you throughout the voyage. If you feel fatigued or need a break this crew member will man your spot. 

Clothing: Everyone onboard must be dressed as Vikings. We have clothing on site that you may use free of charge. You are however also welcome to bring your own clothing. Please bring a natural coloured set of trousers / pants. Weather can not be predicted, so make sure you have a warm undergarment on hand if needed.

Accessories: The use of sunglasses, watches or jewellery of modern design is forbidden. Mobile phones will be permitted during certain points of the voyage. You will get plenty of opportunities to film / take pictures during these periods.

By participating you consent to being filmed / photographed during the voyage. All participants are insured during the voyage. We still strongly recommend that you have travel insurance in place before traveling to Norway.

Program

This is a general outline. We are currently planning lots of activities each day with our partners. 

Wednesday April 23rd: The launch event itself will take place on this day. Based on tide we expect to start preparations during the morning, and have the ship floating by approximately 14:00. Expect a lot of surprises during this day! The detailed program will be revealed early next year. The public will be able to view the launch in the event area between 10:00 and 18:00. (Tickets for this will cost the same as regular entry to Sagastad). Due to safety there will be a designated area for viewing. If you have purchased a rowing seat entrance will be complimentary. 

Thursday April 24th: The ship will be plymming (soaking) during this day. Public viewing 10:00 – 18:00. Further program for this day will announced early next year.

Friday April 25th: The plymming process should be complete by the afternoon. The first voyage is planned for 17:00. Public access: 09:00 – 00:00. 

Saturday April 26th: Voyages throughout the day. Public access: 09:00 – 00:00 A fashion show will be held in the evening onboard the ship. Details TBA.

Sunday April 27th: Voyages throughout the day. Public access: 09:00 – 18:00

Monday April  28th: Voyages throughout the day. Public access: 09:00 – 18:00

Tuesday April 29th: Special program for the cruise ship AIDAnova.

Wednesday April 30th: The ship will be recovered and returned to Sagastad. 10:00 – 18:00
