Earlybird seats are now available to row the Myklebust Viking ship in april! This is a unique opportunity with limited seats to really experience the worlds largest viking ship, out on the fjord like the vikings did it over a 1000 years ago.
Each early bird seat costs NOK 3000. The ticket includes a seat on the ship for a voyage that lasts approximately 2.5 hours. You also gain access to the event area inside and outside of Sagastad, and the required rowing training with smaller vessels prior to the actual voyage. Please make sure you are on site in time for your safety instructions and rowing training that is required to be complete before boarding the Myklebust. Note that this may be the day prior to your journey on the Myklebust.
The Ship will be launched april 23rd, and will be ready to be rowed on the fjord from Friday April 25th. Wednesday April 30th, the ship will return to its regular space in Sagastad.
Requirements for all participants
You must be an adult (18+) and of average health. You must be physically capable of performing essential duties, including rowing, and must be able to navigate the ship safely without the need for special accommodations.
You must have a proficient level of English to effectively communicate and understand safety instructions.
By Norwegian law you will be required to complete a 1 hour security course. This course will be held prior to departure. During the course you will be instructed on the security routines onboard the Myklebust ship.
The course will be held every day during the launch period at 12:00 local time. If your yourney starts early in the day, beware that you must take the course on the day prior.
You will also need to complete a rowing course with a smaller vessel on site. This is all included in the ticket. We will provide detailed information to you on the email you register with.
As a guest rower you will be provided with a member of the crew, whom will be responsible for you throughout the voyage. If you feel fatigued or need a break this crew member will man your spot.
Clothing: Everyone onboard must be dressed as Vikings. We have clothing on site that you may use free of charge. You are however also welcome to bring your own clothing. Please bring a natural coloured set of trousers / pants. Weather can not be predicted, so make sure you have a warm undergarment on hand if needed.
Accessories: The use of sunglasses, watches or jewellery of modern design is forbidden. Mobile phones will be permitted during certain points of the voyage. You will get plenty of opportunities to film / take pictures during these periods.
By participating you consent to being filmed / photographed during the voyage. All participants are insured during the voyage. We still strongly recommend that you have travel insurance in place before traveling to Norway.
