It is with great sorrow that Sagastad has received the news of the passing of His Majesty King Harald V.
His Majesty was a true king of the people. Throughout a long life and all his deeds, he carried out his duties with unparalleled warmth, wisdom, and dedication. He had a very special ability to see the people around him and to unite our nation, both in times of celebration and in times of crisis. His heartfelt dedication to his people and country will be remembered for generations.
The Royal Family has always shown a strong interest in and care for Norwegian history, coastal culture, and our shared cultural heritage. This is something we at Sagastad greatly appreciated experiencing up close when we had the honor of welcoming Crown Prince Haakon (now His Majesty King Haakon VIII) and Prince Sverre Magnus during the sea launch of the Myklebust Ship earlier this year. Our deepest condolences and warmest thoughts now go to the entire Royal Family in this difficult time.
In connection with the funeral on September 9, a one-minute silence will be observed at Sagastad from 13:00 to 13:01. Before, during, and after this observance, there will be a pause in our exhibition. We are making arrangements so that visitors and staff can gather in peace to take part in this moment and honor the memory of a king who was close to us all.
Peace be upon the memory of His Majesty King Harald V
